The Boat House, Gurnard sea front |
Constructed in 2007/8 this stunning building now sits on the site of the original & locally well known Boat House.
From start to finish this contract was strewn with logistical problems due to the only access to & from the site being via the narrow path from Shore Road, due to this we could not get timber framed panels to the site, so we decided to Stick Build and manufactured the whole timber construction in situ using the engineers design, with some latter modifications.
The groundwork was a engineered slab using steel cage reinforcement and pumped concrete for the whole structural base, we then built the outer and gut walls and installed the Beam & Block floor system.
Once this was done we lifted our frames into position and within days the building took shape.
With the open Sea Side aspects to the front and woodland at the rear, the use of Grey / Green Hardi Plank cladding and green natural slating this allowed the building to blend in with both elements.
The building also has under floor heating and solar panels, the windows are wooden interior with grey aluminium outside and using galvanised rainwater system, enhancing the building still further.
There is also the large front balcony with glass and stainless railings and raised wooden decked areas to the front, giving beautiful views over the Solent to the mainland shores as far as the eye can see.
